- The reason I prefer a mailing list has to do with volume. In a hi-volume
- list, the advantages you cite are overwhelming. For a low-volume list such
- as this one, there is a big disadvantage to a newsgroup: one has to go to
- the effort to go to the newsgroup in question on a regular basis. For me, I
- find it more convenient to peruse thru my mail (which the mail client of
- course routes the ODF list (and others) into its own folder. Another
- avantage, is searching for older messages which I can do since they are
- stored in my computer. Finally, the threading aspect you mention, isn't
- always the case. Many of the newsgroups I have used, the messages are
- threaded only half the time.
-
- Anyway that's why I would prefer a mailing list. This may be a individual
- preference, but for me it is a whole lot more convenient.
